Medicine in 50 Years...

In 50 years, medicine will have hopefully made big improvements in the sense that we will have more effective and more capable medicines. With improved medicinal fields comes longer life, as we may be able to cure deathly diseases such as cancer. if we make these improvements in the next 50 years civilization as a whole will benefit greatly.

Hospital employees protest against mandated flu shot

"It's not that we're against anyone who wants to take the vaccine," said Millie Rusi, a staff nurse in the cardio-thoracic unit. "Just don't mandate it." This is what Millie said when the Staten Island hospital mandated all flu shots to health care workers and doctors.

I think this is an actual good idea considering that the supposed H1N1 season is coming.

Navy vet fired in flag flap.

I was reading the Staten Island Advance on wednsday, and came across this article which is a bout a deck hand on the SI FERRY. This deck hand is a veteran of Iraq and Afganistan and was part of a marines special forces team. He and another deck hand were putting up the flags on the top of the boat when he realized that the New York City flag was flying at the same hight as the American flag. Noticing that this violated the federal flag code [which states that no flag is to be flown at the same hight as the American flag] he lowered the state flag so that it was topped at the bottom of the American. The deckhand was later scolded for not following proper procedure but not beliving in the improper flag regulation he lowered it again the next day. Eventually he was fired for it. I think he was treated extremely unfair.
