Navy vet fired in flag flap.

I was reading the Staten Island Advance on wednsday, and came across this article which is a bout a deck hand on the SI FERRY. This deck hand is a veteran of Iraq and Afganistan and was part of a marines special forces team. He and another deck hand were putting up the flags on the top of the boat when he realized that the New York City flag was flying at the same hight as the American flag. Noticing that this violated the federal flag code [which states that no flag is to be flown at the same hight as the American flag] he lowered the state flag so that it was topped at the bottom of the American. The deckhand was later scolded for not following proper procedure but not beliving in the improper flag regulation he lowered it again the next day. Eventually he was fired for it. I think he was treated extremely unfair.

here is the link to the article:

I agree with Matthew. I think that he was treated unfair and the situation could of been handled better.I do not believe that he did not follow the flag code purposely. I think that it was an accident and that the situation could have been prevented.
